West Jakarta Mayor Calls for Review of Flood Handling

Until this noon, water at three locations has receded gradually

West Jakarta Mayor, Anas Effendi took to the field for reviewing the handling of floods in his region.

According to him, there are three flood points in West Jakarta. They are Tegal Alur due to overflowing water of Semongol River, Tugabus Angke due to overflowing water of Angke River and Jl. S Parman due to high water volume of Grogol River.

"We operate seven mobile pumps to suck up water from Jl. S Parman. Until this noon, water at three locations has receded gradually," he said, Tuesday (2/21).

To avoid similar condition, various efforts have been prepared. Among them are by cleaning the drains, making new drains and monitoring sluice gate. Additionally, residents also continue to be educated not to littering.

"Along with residents, the government must hand in hand maintain the cleanliness and the environment in West Jakarta," he disclosed.
