Council Supports BPRD to Collect on Tax Arrears

It will be maximal because it has been involving the relevant authorities

The Regional Tax and Retribution Agency (BPRD) has involved the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to collect on tax arrears, assisted by Jakarta City Council (DPRD) Commission C. It is an effort to optimize local revenue from tax. 

"We're supporting and encouraging the BPRD to cooperate with legal apparatus, like police, attorney and KPK, to collect on tax arrears," disclosed James Arifin Sianipar, Secretary of Jakarta DPRD Commission C, Wednesday (2/22).

He went on the say that council requested BPRD to fix the data of taxpayer that still has arrears.

"Data of various tax arrears that will be collected should be accompanied by proof, thus tax officer is not reported back by the taxpayer. This often happens," he expressed. 

According to him, cooperation that aims to optimize local revenue is the right way that should be appreciated.

"It will be maximal because it has been involving the relevant authorities," he expressed. 

Formerly, Jakarta BPRD Head, Edi Sumantri explained that would form a joint secretariat (sekber) in a series of monitoring regional working units (SKPD and taxpayer in order to optimize local revenue that is accountable, professional, and free from KKN. That is by appointing the responsible for each SKPD, accompanied by KPK investigators.

"We also want taxpayer to be examined at KPK office," he explained.
