Often Overflows, Residents Request for Micro Drainage Dredging

Many of micro drainage in North Jakarta are in poor condition due to rarely drain. As a result, it often overflowed when heavy rain comes, and surely inundating resident's settlement.

Such condition is seen on Jalan Mangga west and east side. A micro drainage as long as 200 meters is filled with mud, and covered by buildings above it. Thus, water as high as 30 cm can easily inundate RT 16 and 16 of RW 08, Lagoa Urban Village, Koja when rain pours.

"We have repeatedly reported this matter through the Regional Development Planning Forum (Musrenbang), but there has no realization. We hope related unit can immediately dredge the drainage and demolish its concrete, as well as construct an u-ditch for ease of cleaning," he hoped, Wednesday (6/4).
When being contacted, Head of Water Resources Maintenance Division, North Jakarta Water Management Public Works Sub-Department, Kuryatna Atmadja admitted that many micro drainage in North Jakarta are very worrying. Therefore, his party will repair micro and macro drainage in 123 points this year.
"98 points of micro drainage repair have been proposed and being processed," he added.
The locations are, micro drains on Jalan Manggar, Mindi, Lagoa Terusan and Mahoni, Koja. Then Jalan Malaka Jaya, Rorotan Tiga and Marunda Baru, Cilincing, also Jalan Bandengan Utara, Pademangan Empat and Lodan, Pademangan.
“We are going to make various reparations. Starts from normalization, escalation, dredging and new construction,” he stated.
