Heavy rain pouring in the capital city and its surroundings had made some roads in West Jakarta to inundate. Allegedly, the inundation is caused by drain holes located on the separators which meets obstructed waterways.
Currently there are many roads that its position is lower than the waterways and the rivers
Based on beritajakarta.com observation, one of the inundated roads was on Jalan Outer Ring Road, from Cengkareng towards Puri Kembangan direction, exactly from in front of SPBU until Puri Kembangan traffic intersection as long as 500 meter.
Due to this 20-25 high-meter-inundation, the long congestion occurred in the traffic flow. The same condition was also found along Jalan Peternakan Raya, Kedaung Kaliangke towards Kapuk, exactly around pig abattoir (RPH), warehouse, and factory area. The inundation also occurred on Jalan Kembangan Raya, precisely in front of Puri Kedoya housing with 30 centimeter high.
400 West Jakarta Satpol PP Prepared to Evict PMKSAs a result, many two-wheeled vehicles were forced to turn around by opposing the water flow. This condition had caused the congestion worse.
“The high water on this road (Kembangan Raya) is caused by Pesanggrahan River overflow that comes into the waterway. To avoid inundation, the road should be elevated,” said Nisam (52), a Puri Kedoya Housing security officer, Wednesday (5/28).
Head of West Jakarta Public Work Water Management, Pamudji, said that to anticipate the inundation on road, his party is fixing the waterways, either in the residents’ settlements or roads.
“
Currently there are many roads that its position is lower than the waterways and the rivers . As a result, a rain in a while can cause the water to overflow inundating roads, one of them is Jalan Kembangan Raya which position is lower than the waterways and Pesanggrahan River,” explained Pamudji.Even so, Pamudji did not mention in detail the amount of waterways that is being fixed. “Clearly, every sub-district should clean the waterway in the local environment, either in small or medium scale,” completed Pamudji.
