Kenyans Dominate Jakarta International 10K

Kenyan runners dominated the 2014 Jakarta International 10-kilometer Run held in Monas, Central Jakarta, Sunday (6/8). They won the titles for both international male and female categories.

The fund from Jakarta Provincial Government is Rp 3 billion, while for T-shirts, promotions, and milk for drink are provided by Nestlé Milo as the event’s sponsor

Here are the complete results of winners of the 2014 Jakarta International 10K Run:

Elite International (Male)

2. Titus Kwemoi Masai, Kenya (29 minutes 1 second)

3. Charles Wachramaina, Kenya (29 minutes 12 seconds)

Elite International (Female)

1. Esther Chemtai Ndema, Kenya (32 minutes 28 seconds)

2. Sharon Jemutai Cherop, Kenya (32 minutes 41 seconds)

3. Violah Jepchumba, Kenya (32 minutes 41 seconds)

National (Male)

1. Agus Prayogo (31 minutes 8 seconds)

2. M Ridwan (31 minutes 53 seconds)

3. Jauhari Johan (32 minutes 10 seconds)

National (Female)

1. Rini Budiarti (35 minutes 1 second)

2. Yulianingsih (37 minutes 14 seconds)

3. Meri Pauo (37 minutes 44 seconds)

Unfortunately, elite Indonesian female runner, Triyaningsih who won gold medal in 5,000-meter running category in the 2013 SEA Games in Myanmar, cannot participate in the competition due to injury on her right foot palm.

This competition is joined by 35,000 participants from around the world, including 20 elite national runners and 20 elite international runners. A total of Rp Rp 950 million is prepared for the winners, including door prizes. The competition category includes elite, general, and student.

The event itself began at 6.30 AM, with route starts from Monas-Sarinah-HI Roundabout-Dukuh Atas-Semanggi and ends at Monas.
