50,000 Firecrackers Secured in Cakung

Ahead of the holy month Ramadhan 1435 Hijri, the circulation of firecrackers is rampant. To narrow it, Cakung Sector Police, East Jakarta, held raid and managed to secure around 50,000 small type firecrackers to be later destroyed by soaking them in a large tub.

Cakung Sector Police Chief Commissioner Liliek Iryanto, uttered the firecrackers seized were packed in 25 large-sized packages. The entire firecrackers were secured from Daryanto (33), a firecrackers seller at Sulton Kandang Sapi Cakung Timur Market.

“ The entire firecrackers secured only come from the hands of a seller . The raid against firecrackers circulation will continuously be done to overcome this community disease ahead of Ramadhan 1435 Hijri,” he stated, Tuesday (6/10).

Meanwhile, Cakung Sector Police Criminal Unit Chief AKP Bara Libra Sagita told that since the goods seized are already in the form of firecrackers, the seller is only required to report to be then guided. But if the goods seized were in the form of gunpowder, the person could be charged under Emergency Law No. 12/1951.

“Firecrackers are usually rampant in the society ahead of fasting month. We will routinely hold raid, so the public could solemn in fasting,” he said.
