North Jakarta Will Not Participate in 2015 Adipura

North Jakarta Administration decided not to participate in the 2015 Adipura, a cleanliness contest program. At this time the municipality focuses more in building facilities and infrastructures, because infrastructures project includes in the scoring points done by the team from Environment Ministry.

We prefer to focus on developing our city. After all is finished, we are confident enough to participate in the 2016 Adipura

“We have sent a letter to the Environment Ministry on June 5, telling that we are thankful have been guided and North Jakarta will not participate in the 2015 Adipura,” stated North Jakarta Mayor, Heru Budi Hartono, Tuesday (6/10).

According to Hartono, some of the infrastructure projects going on currently are reservoir revitalization, Jakarta Emergency Dredging Initiative (JEDI) that focuses on Sunter River normalization, Tanjung Priok Toll Road construction as well as gas pipe infrastructures and new port construction by PT Pelindo.

“Those projects are certainly impacted on damage city’s infrastructures, like roads, parks, drainages, and cleanliness,” he told.

In addition, Hartono assessed that all would be redundant if his party participated in the 2015 Adipura.

For information, the last time North Jakarta won Adipura Trophy was in 2013 in the category of the cleanest metropolitan city. As for this year, North Jakarta fails to maintain it.
