City Still Steeped in Second-phase Railway Crossings Closure

Jakarta Provincial Government is still deeply studying the second-phase railway crossings closure. As planned before, it would be executed at six spots.

"We will make a meeting schedule again with the central government to discuss this matter," said City Administration’s Economic and Financial Assistant, Franky Mangatas, Thursday (6/8).

Closure Trial at Pisangan Baru Railway Crossings Begins

Thus far his party will still evaluate the impact of traffic from such closure, as traffic at six spots is dense.

"We do not refuse, but will be evaluated again. Certainly such spots are not yet fit for closure," he expressed. 

Jakarta Transportation Dept. Vice Head, Sigit Wijatmoko added, the first-phase railway crossings closure has been conducted. Yet the second phase should be reevaluated.

"In first phase, we do traffic flow arrangements and trajectory rerouting. As for the second phase, must pass through counting traffic first," he stated.

As known, those six spots requested to be closed are Jalan Angkasa on left and right side, Jalan Hasyim Ashari, Penjompongan, as well as Bandengan Utara and Bandengan Selatan.
