Fire Guts VW Caravelle on Cawang Toll Road

No one was injured after fire gutted a Volkswagen Caravelle car B 132 TYZ on Cawang Interchange toll road, precisely in KM 0.200 Cawang towards Grogol, Friday (6/13), at 7.30 AM. Due to this condition, traffic congestion as long as 5 kilometers cannot be avoided.

The car driven by Edy (42) came from Karawang, West Java towards Banten. He admitted he smelled burning coming from the car, like burnt wires. But he continues his journey with an average vehicle speed of 60-70 kilometers per hour.

"Suddenly flames came out under the middle seat. I was surprised and immediately stop my car. The fire quickly enlarged thus I could not extinguish it," he admitted.

In an instant, the fire immediately engulfed the car. Within half an hour, the fire was successfully extinguished by PT Jasa Marga officers using a tank unit.

To prevent unwanted things, five police officers of City Police PJR had to close traffic from Cawang-Grogol.
