Unroadworthy Buses will Be Grounded in Homecoming Season

Jakarta Transportation Dept. (Dishub) will not tolerate unroadworthy Intercity Interprovincial (AKAP) buses to be used for homecoming transportation. Buses in that condition are ensured to be grounded immediately.

Jakarta Dishub Head, Andri Yansyah said his side already underwent ramp check for AKAP buses since a week before fasting. Recently, 710 buses have been checked and 428 buses which is 60 percent of total buses were in unroadworthy condition.

"We still give chance for Autobus Company (PO) to repair it. But after entering homecoming season, we will ground it," he said, Thursday (6/15).

He explained this year's homecoming flow and back flow will be long enough started from D-10 until D+15 of Eid. During that period, unroadworthy AKAP buses should be repaired.

"We suggested to Ministry of Transportation to revoke unroadworthy buses permit within homecoming period because permit revocation and issuance are under its authority," he affirmed.

He also added, vehicle ramp check during homecoming flow will be centered in three main terminals and five additional terminals. His side is not only check bus condition, but also drivers and vehicles administrative completeness.
