O2SN 2014 Participated by 5,101 Students Around Indonesia

After East Kalimantan has succeeded host the VII National Student Sport Olympic (O2SN) in 2013, now the even to be held in Jakarta. The opening to be done on Monday (6/15) in Sentul International Convention Center, Bogor, West Java.

Jakarta Head Dept. of Education, Lasro Marbun, said that Jakarta is only the host, while the event implementation is under Ministry of Education and Culture. The event is participated by 8,321 Indonesian students, consisting 5,101 elementary, primary, and high school student athletes, while the rests are teachers.

There are nine categories of competition for elementary student, seven categories for primary student, and six categories for high school students. Other categories are four competition for elementary special education and service (PKLK) and also 4 categories for primary PKLK.

"Our duty is only for event opening-closing, accommodation and consumption," Marbun said, Saturday (6/14).

According to him, the event location should be implemented in Sentul since Gelora Bung Karno and Hailai Ancol in Jakarta are already booked.

"The closing ceremonial will be also held at the same place. Acting Jakarta Governor will attend the opening ceremonial," he added.

It is hoped Jakarta will get the first winner since last year the Jakarta contingents were failed to retain the best position. Last year winner was East Java by 25 golds, 17 silvers, and 17 bronzes. Second place was West Java by 18 golds, 11 silvers, and 12 bronzes. Third place was Bali by 14 golds, 8 silvers, and 13 bronzes.
