One Roof Transportation Management is Needed, Basuki Says

PT Transportasi Jakarta (TransJakarta) is asked to immediately take over the public transportation management system in the capital city. This takeover of one roof management is hoped to reduce the traffic accident of public transportation.

"I told PT TransJakarta to immediately take it over. So it’s still in the transition period until the end of this year,” said Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, Acting Jakarta Governor, Monday (6/16).

He said that integrated Kopaja AC costs Rp 6,000 could involve in an accident if the bus driver drives recklessly on the special lane. For giving deterrent effect, Basuki has instructed Head of City Transportation, M Akbar, to revoke the permit of violating public transportation.

"We can't revoke the route permit if similar violation occurs because of lack bus unit,” acknowledged Basuki.

Basuki assessed that pileup collision in Monas bus stops Monday morning is not merely TransJakarta articulated buses driver fault since the bus condition is almost 50 percent, especially the single bus that is not feasible to operate.

“50 percent of our buses need to be rejuvenated since most of them have been nine years old. However we cannot do it quickly. I have pushed to use the easy one, using private service to get everything faster,” added Basuki.

He also asked PT Transjakarta to give training to improve the bus drivers’ quality. However, since it is being hampered, Basuki asked Scania to give that training.
