Pile-Up Crash, TransJakarta Bus Driver Threatened to Be Fired

A pile-up collision happened on TransJakarta bus lane on Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, precisely before Monas TransJakarta Bus Stop, Monday (6/16), around 7.55 AM. The accident involves two TransJakarta buses owned by Damri, with license plate number B 7562 TGA and B 7501 TGA, and two Kopaja buses AC 602 (Ragunan-Monas) B 7611 DG and B 7700 YR.

One of the TransJakarta buses is severely damaged on its front side, as well as both of the Kopaja buses. The Kopaja buses have been towed by City Police officers, while the TransJakarta buses are evacuated to Pancoran.

Pileup Collision, None Jakarta 2004 Died

Due to this accident, Jakarta Transportation Department will give strict sanction to TransJakarta bus driver who was negligent in driving and caused pile-up on TransJakarta bus lane on Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Central Jakarta, Monday (6/16) morning.

Certainly, strict sanction will be given if the investigation result proved the TransJakarta bus driver being negligent. The driver could be fired,” asserted Head of Jakarta Transportation Department, M Akbar.

Based on the information he received, Akbar disclosed that the accident happened because the TransJakarta bus driver was negligence in driving. It can be seen from the chronology where a TransJakarta crashed onto three other buses when they dropped off passengers.

“In this accident, the driver tends to be careless. He hit from behind. According to the initial information, the accident happened because the driver hit the brake late. But, we don’t know yet the details. We’ll do evaluation,” he stated.
