Eradicating Prostitution is Difficult, Basuki Says

Acting Jakarta Governor Basuki T. Purnama admitted that it is difficult to eradicate prostitution in Jakarta . Finding the entertainment venues as drugs transaction and prostitution is also not easy.

It will be done gradually

"Proving prostitution is difficult too. Except there is someone go there and take picture. But you could be caught due to immoral," said Basuki, Tuesday (6/17).

He added that Jakarta Provincial Government will not surrender closing prostitution since it is his commitment also. "It will be done gradually," he added.

Parks Still Becoming Prostitution Area

At this time, Jakarta Provincial Government has cooperated with National Police Criminal Investigation Directorate to run along entertainment venues used as drugs transaction. Next step is eradicating prostitution location.

"We will surely revoke the permit if the venues are proved," he stated.

One of prostitution locations, Bongkaran in Tanah Abang, is already closed.

"The area is turned for inspection road," Basuki uttered.
