94 Violence Cases Happened in West Jakarta

The Jakarta Women Empowerment and Family Planning Board (BPMPKB) recorded that 94 violence cases have happened in West Jakarta in the last two years. Those cases were caused by three factors, namely economic, educational, and unfriendly environmental that leads to physical violence.

We just do mediation in the region among local sector police in West Jakarta. Then, we send the children to P2TP2A for traumatic healing of the child’s psychology

According to Nila, Head of West Jakarta BPMPKB Women and Children Empowerment Section, those 94 violence cases are under the supervision of Women and Children Empowerment Integrated Service Center (P2TP2A) that located in LPMJ building, Jalan Raya Bekasi, Jatinegara, East Jakarta. P2TP2A is also responsible in doing traumatic healing. As for BPMPKB, it only did mediation based on the reports received by sector police in West Jakarta.

Domestic Violence, Highest Cause of Divorcement

From those 94 cases, Nila continued, mostly were caused by economic factor in which the child’s parents easily angered and often led to beating. She disclosed that educating the children with violent still becomes a culture among people, such as by giving physical punishment in the form of beating and slapping to discipline the children. In this matter, educational factor has a role. The last cause is unfriendly environmental factor, such as areas prone to thuggery, drugs distribution, gambling, and prostitution.
