City will Add Park and Rides

Jakarta Provincial Government plans to add more Park and Ride facilities.

Park and Ride will be added thus citizen can be more facilitated and interested to use public transportation

Jakarta Secretary, Saefullah mentioned, recently Park and Rides are located in seven locations. There are in Kampung Rambutan Termina, Kalideres Terminal, Pulogebang Terminal, Ragunan Terminal, Pinang Ranti Terminal, PGC and Jl. MH. Thamrin area.

"Park and Ride will be added thus citizen can be more facilitated and interested to use public transportation," he said, Wednesday (8/9).

Four Park and Ride Construction Started in This Year

According to him, Park and Ride will be built in Kebon Kacang (Tanah Abang), Cempaka Mas ITC area, and Roxy this year.

"Many of Jakartans are still not willing to use Transjakarta bus. Hopefully, Park and Ride facility could encourage people to use public transportation," he expressed.

Meanwhile, Jakarta Transportation Dept. Deputy Head, Sigit Wijiatmoko added, Park and Ride construction will not use City Budget. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) becomes one of the financing scheme options.

"Financing scheme concept is still on discussion. Hopefully it can be finished this year," he informed.

He explained, his side proposes to add more park and ride locations in each terminals managed by Transportation Dept. or develop TOD area in Detailed Spatial Plan Regulation (RDTR)'s reconsideration proposal.

"Principally, Park and Ride will be built in the suburbs. Thus there is a shift between private vehicle usage to public transportation," he closed.
