Jakarta Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidayat disclosed, around 13.9 million of two-wheeled vehicles and 3.5 million of four-wheeled vehicles are recorded in Jakarta. The number is higher than Jakarta population, which reached 10.1 million people.

"If it is ignored, you can imagine we will experience stagnation," he expressed, Wednesday (9/6).

Currently, he stated, the central government and the city are intensifying the development of public transportation infrastructure. Hence, before physical development is done, the payment system will be prepared in parallel.

"We can't wait for the completion of physical development. This is parallel with the preparation of the builder," he exclaimed.

He hoped the integrated payment system would be based on Jakarta One card as big data. Thus, people who use public transportation can be monitored.

"Aside from being a non-cash payment, the people data can also be the basis of route and service determination policies," he asserted.

Transportation Minister, Budi Karya Sumadi added that the current number of transportation activities in Greater Jakarta is about 40 million. Of that number, only about 24 percent of them are using public transportation.

To serve the public, he stated, Commuterline is already able to accommodate one million customers and Transjakarta 400 thousand customers. The number will increase if the construction of MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) and LRT (Light Rail Transit) is completed.

"By so, we need one payment system. I cannot imagine if it uses various payment systems," he admitted.

On the other hand, BI Governor, Agus Martowardoyo said there are three aspects that guide the implementation of integrated payment system of transportation. Those are electronic money that replaces the ticket for safe payment, accurate practical and fast in processing.

There is also the standardization of electronic money in accordance with the national standard in the future based on electronic fee collection (EFC), and the third is can maintain economic continuity by preventing rente and creating efficiency.

"This is a synergy between the central government, local government and BI as the authority of the payment system, in order to create more efficient and comfortable public services," he closed.
