Jakarta International Humanoid, Biggest Event in South East Asia

Jakarta International Humanoid, which will be held on upcoming June 22 at Monas Plaza, Central Jakarta, to enliven Jakarta’s 487th anniversary, is going to be the biggest event held in South East Asia. It is scheduled that 487 sculpture artists to participate in this event. In other countries, event like this only involved 200 artists.

This humanoid event will be the biggest event ever in South East Asia because there has been no event before makes 487 humans into sculptures

“This humanoid event will be the biggest event ever in South East Asia because there has been no event before makes 487 humans into sculptures. Two humanoid artists who won the 2013 World Championship of Living Statues in Arnhem, Netherland, namely John Man from Germany and Aston from Bulgaria, will take part in this event,” stated Septian Dwi Cahyo, a pantomime artist, at City Hall, Friday (6/20).

Cahyo admitted that collecting 487 people to take part in this event is not easy because there are not much humanoid communities in Jakarta. So, to gather the people who wanted to participate, theatrical and pantomime artists are involved because both arts are considered similar with humanoid.

487 Human Sculpture Attractions Will Color Jakarta's Anniversary

“Indeed there are difficulties because humanoid communities are not much. So, to gather 487 people, we involved theatrical and pantomime artists,” he said.

The 2014 Jakarta International Humanoid will show up many characters. To attract visitors’ interest, German artist John Man will be white sculpture. Later, visitors can freely draw on his body using available paints. Other characters that will be shown are sculptures in Jakarta, national figures as well as various Betawi cultures and Betawi traders.

“Human sculptures will be shown in turns. Visitors can also join in free workshop on humanoid,” added Cahyo.
