Towards Jakarta’s 487th anniversary, Jakarta Provincial Government is again to hold Jakarnaval. This annual event will be held on upcoming Sunday (6/22), involving 1,200 people, five huge masks, and five traditional groups from Bali, Ponorogo, Surakarta, Indramayu, and East Kalimantan. In addition, the festival will also be enlivened with 30 ornament cars from a number of regional working units (SKPD).

The parade will start from Horse Statue until Hotel Indonesia Roundabout ,” stated Head of Jakarta Culture and Tourism Department Destinations Attraction Management Section, Ida Subaidah, at City Hall, Friday (6/20).For Jakarnaval’s preparation, Jakarta Culture and Tourism Department will coordinate with Jakarta Indonesian Carnival Association (AKARI). Later, there will be a workshop followed by 300 participants from cultural communities.

If last year’s Jakarnaval theme was ‘Miracle of Ondel’, the theme this year is ‘Miracle of Archipelago Masks’.
