600 Janitors Deployed to Clean Trashes in JNF

The peak of Jakarta’s 487th anniversary will be celebrated with Malam Muda Mudi or Jakarta Night Festival (JNF) held this evening, Saturday (6/21). To support this event, 600 janitors are deployed. Nevertheless, people are still urged to maintain cleanliness during the event.

“A total of 600 janitors are deployed and ready to clean the trashes. They consist of 500 street sweepers, 70 grimy personnel, 20 supervisors, and 10 field coordinators. Moreover, we provide trash bins in every 50 meters within JNF location,” stated Head of Jakarta Cleanliness Department, Saptastri Ediningtyas Kusumadewi.

In addition, Jakarta Cleanliness Department also prepared special facilities in form of 60 motor carts, 20 dump trucks, 12 pick-ups, 4 automatic street broom cars, 11 mobile toilets, 10 clean water tank trucks, and 2 dirty water tank trucks.

“We also carry out supervision and control by providing Mobile Command Post at nine points near JNF entertainment stages. Residents can file complain on hygiene problems to those posts directly or contact the hotline 0211-8092744 and 08138100200,” she informed.

Considering the series of Jakarta’s anniversary commemoration is continued on Sunday (6/22), Kusumadewi told that cleanliness officers will also be put on standby tomorrow. Among the series of events are the City Council (DPRD) Plenary Meeting and the 2014 Jakarnaval Parade.

“Not only deploying our field officers, I, as the head of (cleanliness) department will also doing direct control. I also instructed sections heads and sub-department heads in five municipalities to get down directly to the field,” she asserted.
