Jakarta 487 Anniversary, City Gets Bitter Gift

Acting Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, said that the city receive bitter gift on Jakarta 487 Anniversary since the City Government achieve a number of predicates that are less advantageous.

The decline achievements are failed in achieving Adipura, qualified opinion (WDP) of city financial report from Financial Audit Agency, and failed to maintain the first rank in 2014 Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ competition.

“This is very bitter. Instead of getting Adipura, we get WDP. I think this is very deficient,” said Basuki in his speech at Jakarta 487 Anniversary at Monas Crossing, Central Jakarta, Sunday (6/22).

Basuki admitted to confuse why Jakarta could get Adipura last year and several years ago. In reality, in most corner of the capital city are still commonly found garbage.  "I also wonder why in the previous years, Jakarta has always awarded Adipura. Maybe that is assessed only Sudirman-Thamrin. As a matter of fact, our rivers are filled with garbage,” said Basuki.

Basuki also regretted city achievement as general champion in MTQ competition, but the human resource (SDM) is not from Jakarta. This former Regent of Belitung Timur has asked in city contingent to not take qori/qoriah from outside the city in representing national MTQ competition in the future anymore.

"In 2014 MTQ competition, Jakarta manages to get the sixth rank, but with real Jakarta resident. We still have to be thankful with what we achieved,” told Basuki. 

He also asked Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) to conduct a survey related the poor in the capital city. Along this time, the poor is only calculated based on the number of calories consumed and approximately equivalent to Rp 300 thousand per month. Looking ahead, the city government will change that pattern based on the amount of the value of Proper Living Needs (KHL).

“So do not surprise if this year’s poor percentage in the capital city is 3 until 4 percent more, then in next year, the poor percentage is increasing to 50 percent more,” explained Basuki.

From those matters, Basuki revealed that the previous city real face was never revealed. “Politicians must say this is bitter pill. But, we do not like to consume fake pills, eventually imagery,” completed Basuki.
