Basuki: Jakarta is Our House

The 2014 Jakarnaval enlivened Jakarta’s 487th anniversary yesterday, Sunday (6/22). The event that themed Keajaiban Topeng Nusantara (The Miracle of Nusantara Masks) was attended by Acting Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama at National Monument (Monas) Field.

In that occasion, Basuki said that besides to entertain the citizens, Jakarnaval is training to all Jakartans to maintain parks by not stepping them and not carelessly throwing trash because Jakarta is our house.

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, Jakarta Cleanliness Department participated in Jakarnaval by staging parade and dances with a note to citizens about the importance to maintain cleanliness by not throwing trash carelessly, so Jakarta would be a clean city and free from flood.

Agus (39), a Jakarnaval visitor, admitted that he is quite pleased with some of the events held to celebrate Jakarta’s anniversary, such as free ride of TransJakarta bus in all corridors for two days, Ragunan Zoo, and Jakarnaval.

This resident of Cengkareng, West Jakarta, assessed that Jakarnaval is entertaining and educating because it shows some Indonesian cultures. With that, his children gain more knowledge.

“I was from Ragunan (Zoo), free entrance. Then I went straight to Monas by riding TransJakarta, which also free of charge. Hopefully the same held again next year,” he expressed.
