Fire in Penjaringan, 1,000 People Lost Their Houses

Great fire struck densely populated area in the capital city. A total of 250 houses in RT 01/07, Kamal Muara, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, burned on Wednesday (6/25) early morning. As a result, a total of 250 families or 1,000 people lost their houses. No casualty in this incident.

Mostly the burned houses were semi-permanent houses in the size of 2 meters x 1 meter

The fire occurred around 1.07 AM. As many as 24 fire trucks from North Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department were deployed to the location. After struggling for two hours, the firemen finally extinguished the fire.

Home Convection Burned, 2 People Died

Head Operational of North Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department, Muchtar Zakaria, said that since 7.30 AM the firemen are still cooling down the fire scene since there are many flammable building materials.

“Mostly the burned houses were semi-permanent houses in the size of 2 meters x 1 meter. Until now, we are still cooling down the scene. For the cause of the fire and losses, we don’t know yet,” he stated.
