Fire Victims Need Building Material Aids

It never occurs to the minds of 250 people occupied dense populated area on Jalan Makmur RT 06 and 07 RW 02 Kebayoran Lama Utara, and Jalan Pandan RT 08/02 Kramat Pela, South Jakarta welcoming the holy month of Ramadan in shelter. Nonetheless, that is a fact that they need to face after their settlements burned down yesterday, Thursday (6/26).

Indeed there are aids of foods and toiletries, but if can, we want people to help providing building materials. We want to live in normal again.

The victims of the burned down of 40 semi permanent houses are forced to stay jostling in shelter tent set up in Universitas Satyanegara Indonesia (USNI) yard next to the fire scene. They admitted that they need aid in forms of building materials to build back their ravaged houses.

During the refuge, the victims get food aids from South Jakarta Social Department, South Jakarta PMI, as well as Gandaria City Mall management party.

40 Semi-permanent Buildings in Kebayoran Lama Burned

"Indeed there are aids of foods and toiletries, but if can, we want people to help providing building materials. We want to live in normal again. Moreover, we live in the shelter ahead the fasting month. It is kind of hard to have midnight meal and pray. I am sad, ahead the fasting month we get catastrophe,” complained Pratini (52), one of the fire victims, Friday (6/27).

Meanwhile, Head of Kebayoran Lama Sub-District, Agus Irwanto, explained that his party has opened social aid tents to receive aids collected by RW 07 and RW 02. “The toiletries for 65 householders have been distributed last night. There have not been aids for building materials,” stated Irwanto.

For that, Irwanto appealed the donators willing to donate building materials or cash so that the refugee can soon rebuild their houses.

Head Section of Social Aid of South Jakarta Social Sub-Department, Sumadi, stated that there are some temporary shelter points accommodating fire victims, and the largest is in USNI yard.

The Social Sub-Dept. party has also prepared 500 meal boxes to supply food for today’s lunch and dinner. “Last night’s dinner was provided by PMI and Gandaria City management party. We have prepared 500 meal boxes for today’s lunch and dinner,” told Sumadi.

The fire burned down 40 houses in 2 sub-districts located in Kebayoran Lama and Kebayoran Baru Sub-District around 01.30 PM yesterday, Thursday (6/26). The fire gut the houses built with semi permanent materials quickly. As many as 23 fire truck units were deployed by Fire and Disaster Management Department to extinguish the fire.
