Jalan Raya Kebayoran Lama , South Jakarta, is very fretful. Besides disturbing pedestrians, hundreds of street vendors selling vegetables and fruits are also making traffic flows stagnant. “I have warned the street vendors not to sell again after Eid ul Fitr,” stated Head of Grogol Selatan Urban Village, Agung Wibowo, Tuesday (6/17).
From the inventory done, Wibowo disclosed there are 650 street vendors selling on sidewalks and roadsides on Jalan Raya Kebayoran Lama.
Sanction Given for Street Vendors Selling on Street“In Kebayoran Lama Sub-District, the areas most troubled by street vendors’ existence are Grogol Selatan, Cipulir, and Kebayoran Lama Utara urban villages. Based on the inventory done, there are 650 street vendors selling day and night,” he explained.
According to Wibowo, his party and South Jakarta Administration have socialized the street vendors about the violation they have done, and also given them solution on other place to sell.
“I go down to the field almost every day, talking with the street vendors that what they’re doing is taking both pedestrians’ and vehicles’ rights. We also have prepared other place to sell in some nearest traditional markets,” he uttered.
The markets referred by Wibowo are Kebayoran Lama Market, Bata Putih Market, and Cidodol Market.
“In Kebayoran Lama Market there are 40 places left and in Cidodol Market less than 30 places left. The most available places are in Bata Putih Market where there are 400 places, in which 30 of them are for fruit sellers,” he informed.
