The South Jakarta Fishery and Livestock Sub-Department keeps conducting various ways to prevent poultry virus in South Jakarta. One of them is through relocation way which will be addressed to the Poultry Slaughterhouse (RPU) at RW 1, Cipulir Urban Village, to another RPU on Jalan Bungur, Petukangan Utara, Pesanggrahan. In such location, the modern RPU has been prepared and far from citizen residential.
We will continue to strive, because there are 370 slaughterhouses with a production capacity of 2,5000 per day in Arela
"We keep conducting socialization together with the Arek Lamongan (Arela) Community. This is because they control half the supply of chicken meat in South Jakarta," said Head of South Jakarta Fishery and Livestock Sub-Department, Sri Hartati, Saturday (6/28).
According to Hartati, such policy refers on Bylaw No.4/2007 on Control of Poultry Maintenance and Distribution, mentions the RPU should be separated from citizen residential. Socialization aims to create an environment of healthy neighborhoods and free of disease, especially poultry virus.

"We will continue to strive, because there are 370 slaughterhouses with a production capacity of 2,5000 per day in Arela," she explained.
On the other hand, the bylaw is strengthened with Governor Instruction No. 79/2013 on raid against poultry slaughterhouse in residential and market. All officials, starting from the mayor, regional working unit (SKPD), sub-district and urban village heads must be active to implement the policy.
In South Jakarta itself, one of the areas with the greatest chicken supply is in 4 RT/RW 01 Cipulir Urban Village, Kebayoran Lama. More than 25,000 chickens are slaughtered to meet citizen needs.
The Arela's chicken slaughterhouse are located in RT 01, 04, 08, and 11/RW 01 Cipulir. Its RPU was built in the middle of residential, yet the employers do not want to be relocated to Petukangan Utara RPU.
Madlai, (53), one of broiler chicken sellers at RT 11/01 Cipulit, revealed he rejected the relocation plan because of the Arela location is closer to Kebayoran Lama Market. Thus his money transport can be saved. "Petukangan Utara is very far and prone to congestion," he complained.
He assessed the facilities of Utara Petukangan RPU is still inadequate, such as water supply and access roads. "The access road is small and narrow, thus big trucks cannot pass. This means we have to provide small truck and its production cost. This is very burdensome," he uttered.
