Criminal Rates in the City Predicted to Increase

Jakarta and its surrounded citizens are asked to increase awareness since along Ramadan and before Idul Fitri, crime rates is predicted to increase. This is caused by economical activities in the city and its surrounded tend to increase. This is potential to gain crime rates, especially thievery with violation (curas) and motor vehicle thievery. To anticipate this, City’s Regional Police will tight the patrol.

Public Relation Head for City Police, Comm. Rikwanto said he will deploy 7,200 personnel in prone crime area. It is hoped the number of personnel will be able to smooth the fasting month implementation.

The personnel will be spread in some of locations by wearing uniform and some of them with casual uniform. The location targets are gas station, pawnshop, gold store, entertainment venues, and markets.

Government Decides Ramadan Started on Sunday

"Crime rates increase is such an annual problem. Economic and transaction during Ramadan and Ied is also boosting up," said Rikwanto, Friday (6/27).

Rikwanto also suggested the mass organization not to conduct sweeping during fasting month. There is personnel prepared and coordination with city administration is also tightened.

"Please report to us if any of you (mass organization) found something wrong out there, we'll respond," he uttered.
