Garbage Volume to Incraese in Ramadan

The high demand of public food consumption in Ramadan, especially at break fasting and midnight meal, will cause the garbage volume in the city to increase.

In the fasting month, the garbage volume must increase especially plastic garbage and coconut shell

Head of North Jakarta Cleanliness Dept, Zainuri, admitted that if normally the produced garbage is 1,400 ton per day, then in Ramadan to increase 5 percent or around 90 tons per day.

“In the fasting month, the garbage volume will increase especially plastic garbage and coconut shell. We asked the cadgers to litter on time so that the garbage can be transported based on the established schedule,” said Zainuri, Tuesday (6/24).

To litter to Bantar Gebang Integrated Waste Management (TPST), Bekasi, West Java, North Jakarta Cleanliness Dept has prepared 165 garbage trucks. However, from that number, there are only feasible 100 trucks. There are also 30 additional trucks from City Cleanliness Department.

"There are around 100 garbage trucks operated with the capacity 1 cubic meter to 10 cubic meters on the average,” told Zainuri.

Zainuri added that the garbage volume usually starts to decline on D-7 and remain stable until D+3 of Eid Fitri. The decline is around 2-5 percent of land garbage on the average of 1,400 ton every day.

"From D-7 until D+3, we expect it to decline since many Jakartans go to their hometown. The garbage volume increase as usual on D+3,” said Zainuri.
