Jakarta Provicial Government plans to re-arrange becak (cycle rickshaw) operational in Jakarta.
We never plan to allow becak on main roads
In the future, becak will only operate in settlement areas as the neighborhood vehicle.
Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan said, his side wants to accommodate Jakartans needs. Especially people who use becak as their livelihood.

He mentioned, his side didn't mean not to acknowledge becak existence. Moreover, this vehicle is actually possible to be found in several Jakarta areas. Besides, some people are still need it.
"Why becak is existed in many places, especially North Jakarta? Because there is a need in there," he expressed.
He stated, becak re-arrangement will be adjusted to citizen needs. If becak is not needed in some areas, then it will not be forced.
"If people in neighborhood doesn't need it, then it will be only placed in areas in need," he conveyed.
