Vice Gov. Supports Halal Destination in Jakarta

Jakarta Vice Governor, Sandiaga Uno supports Halal Destination program acceleration which is proposed by Jakarta Indonesian Ulama Council Food Drug and Cosmetics Institution (LPPOM MUI DKI).

Jakarta as a capital city is supposed to have halal destination

"Jakarta as a capital city is supposed to have halal destination," expressed Sandi after meeting with LPPOM MUI DKI, Thursday (2/1).

According to him, job opportunities in tourism will be increased by implementation on halal food and beverages destination in Jakarta. "We will encourage Tourism Dept. to support implementation of halal destination in Jakarta," he said.

Food Products in Five Traditional Markets in E. Jakarta Examined

LPPOM MUI DKI Director, Osmena Gunawan said Pergub DKI no. 158/2013 has mentioned about halal and non-halal restaurant certification. But he assessed, its implementation is not optimal.

"We want Jakarta Provincial Government to implement halal destination optimally," he mentioned.

He added, halal destination could be started from Jakarta Provincial Government and extend into school canteen, shopping centers, and mini markets.
