Each RW in North Jakarta Targeted to Have Climate Village

North Jakarta Administration is encouraging each RW in its territory to form a climate village. It is purposed is to minimize the effects of global climate change.

North Jakarta Vice Mayor, Junaedi said 4,000 RWs are targeted to have climate change.

Every Urban Village Will Have Climate Village

"Our target is each RW to have climate village. So we can minimize global climate change," he stated, Wednesday (2/7).

To realize it, all community leaders, environmental groups and religious leaders should be ready to become a pioneer in the formation of a climate village.

He is optimistic that if there is collaboration between government, private parties and locals, climate village programs such as the use of yard parks for reforestation, waste management and reduction of electricity use can be realized.

North Jakarta Environment Sub-dept. Head, Slamet Riyadi explained, in 2016, North Jakarta already had 38 climate villages.

"Hopefully, this year its number could increase up to 72 climate villages," he said.
