City Initiates Zero Garbage Movement

Jakarta Provincial Government initiates a three-month zero garbage movement at the 2018 National Garbage Care Day (HPSN).

According to Isnawa Adji, Head of Jakarta Environment Dept. expressed the movement is ready to succeed the commemoration of HPSN.

"Aside that, this year, we're ready to realize zero garbage in the capital. Moreover Jakarta will be the host of Asian Games in the upcoming August," he expressed, Thursday (2/22).

He explained it is also to follow up recommendations from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. In practice, this movement will optimize various cleanliness programs.

Among them are optimization of garbage bank, socialization and education to the residents not to carelessly throw garbage and optimize the gerebek sampah program.

"We hope it can get public attention optimally," he hoped.

He added, in the movement, he would involve communities that concentrate on garbage management. It is in accordance with the direction of Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan.

"Mr. Governor wants people to be involved and make garbage management as a movement," he stated.
