Thousands of Street Vendors will Be Relocated to Cipulir

In a bid to create public order and minimize traffic congestion, thousands of street vendors who set up stalls at forbidden places in Pesanggrahan and Kebayoran Lama Sub-District will be relocated to Jalan Raya Cileduk, Cipulir, South Jakarta. The land as wide as 2 hectares has been prepared, thus it is hoped some areas in South Jakarta can be arranged well in future.

Head of Pesanggrahan Sub-District, Eko Suroyo disclosed hundreds of street vendors in his zone will be relocated to Cipulir. By so, he hopes street vendors problem can be resolved after Eid ul Fitr. "Street vendors from Pesanggrahan and Kebayoran Lama would be relocated to Cipulir," he stated, Saturday (7/12).
Meanwhile, South Jakarta Deputy Mayor, Tri Djoko SM disclosed that such relocation to Kebayoran Lama is continuation of raid against vendors around Pasar Minggu. As known, its existence triggers various problems, like congestion, waste piles, illegal parking, until premanism.

Besides that, his side also cooperates with PD Pasar Jaya to relocate some Kebayoran Lama vendors who sell vegetable and fruit to the building of Kebayoran Lama, Bata Putih, and Cidodol Markets, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta.
"The relocation is prioritized to vendors who already have Jakarta ID card, considering the market capacity is limited, that is 40 stalls in Kebayoran Lama Market, 30 stalls in Cidodol Market, and 400 stalls in Bata Putih Market," he expressed.
