40 Tons of Garbage Transported from Muara Angke

Jakarta Environment Dept. keeps cleaning garbage pilling in the Adem River mangrove conservation area, Muara Angke, North Jakarta that has been done since Saturday (3/17) until today.

"Until this afternoon, we almost have transported 40 tons of garbage," expressed Ali Maulana Hakim, Deputy Head of Jakarta Environment Dept., Monday (3/19).

34 Tons of Waste Transported From Muara Angke

Up to now, two heavy equipments type excavator and spyder have been deployed to transport garbage in the mangrove conservation area and Adem River Pier.

"We're also operating four boats, as there is no access for dump truck," he explained.

According to him, pile of garbage occurs, as a lot of garbage carried by the waves from a number of waters around Jakarta Bay, including 12 river mouths of Jakarta and buffer city.

"Garbage dominated by household garbage was carried away, because of the west wind. Considering the west wind is causing big waves," he stated.
