1,000 Mangrove Seeds Planted in Muara Angke

North Jakarta Government cooperates with Komunitas Mangrove Muara Angke (KOMMA) and PT. Pembangkitan Jawa Bali (PJB) Up Muara Karang to plant 1,000 mangroves in Blok Empang Beach, Kali Adem Estuary, Pluit, Penjaringan.

North Jakarta Vice Mayor, Junaedi appreciates BUMN care towards coastal conservation by giving mangrove seeds. He hopes those mangroves will minimize climate change impacts.

He explained, his side will coordinate with Water Resources (SDA) Dept. to build breakwater near locations where mangroves are planted. Thus those plants can be protected and grow optimally.
PJB UP Muara Karang General Manager, Rahmat Azwin said, his side has cooperated with KOMMA since 2010 and planted 27 plants such as mangroves, api-api, nipa palm, and mangrove apples or locally known as pidada on 1.5 hectares land at Blok Empang Beach.
"This becomes our concern. We
will plant 10 thousand plants gradually in this year," he stated.
