Executive Bus Tariff Increases up to 50 Percent

Autobus companies (PO) are starting to raise tariff to passengers in this homecoming season. Especially for executive bus, the raise is quite high, around 30-50 percent from normal tariff.

As usual, executive bus tariff ahead of Eid ul Fitr increases 30-50 percent, while economic class bus tariff follows upper tariff or maximum tariff

Based on beritajakarta.com observations in Kalideres Terminal, West Jakarta, 80 percent of POs there have raised their tariffs. One of them is PO Sinar Dempo that serves Jakarta-Palembang trajectory. If in regular days its tariff was Rp 250 thousand per passenger, this homecoming season the tariff becomes Rp 350 thousand per passenger.

“As usual, executive bus tariff ahead of Eid ul Fitr increases 30-50 percent, while economic class bus tariff follows upper tariff or maximum tariff,” stated Head of Kalideres Terminal, Joko Sukarno, Wednesday (7/16).

Rawamangun Terminal Prepares 120 Buses to Serve Homecomers

According to Sukarno, executive bus tariff raise indeed becomes PO’s policy because the service given is different to economic class bus. As for economic class bus, its tariff has been regulated in Minister Decree No. 64/2013 on Basic Tariff, which is lower tariff is Rp 99/kilometer/passenger and upper tariff is Rp 161/ kilometer/passenger times destination mileage (for Java Island Rp 150 thousand and Sumatera Island Rp 180 thousand).

He also predicts that the amount of homecomers going on land this year to decrease than last year, from 480,000 homecomers to 400,000 homecomers. This is because many homecomers choose to travel by air which is more comfortable and the ticket price is not so much different to bus tariff.
