Based on hisab hakiki wujudul hilal method (calculation of the moon), Muhammadiyah announces that Eid ul Fitr 1 Syawal 1435 Hijr falls on July 28, 2014.

“Muhammadiyah has determined that 1 Syawal 1435 Hijr falls on Monday, July 28, 2014,” stated Muhammadiyah Jakarta DPW Chairman, Agus Suradika, Saturday (7/19).
According to Suradika, hisab hakiki wujudul hilal method method is based on the motion of celestial objects, especially the sun in factual moon. Thus, the itjimak (conjunction between the moon and the sun), occurs on Sunday (7/27).
Muhammadiyah Sets First Ramadan on June 28“On that day, when the sun sets, the moon is right on the horizon. So, we agreed that 1 Syawal 1435 Hijr falls on Monday, July 28,” he uttered.
As for the announcement of 1 Syawal 1435 Hijr from the government, it is still have to wait for the isbat meeting, in which the government officially decides the start-date for Eid ul Fitr holiday. The meeting will be held on Sunday (7/27).
