6 Toll Roads Project will Be Equipped with Public Transport Lane

Construction of six toll roads in the capital will finally be realized. It is marked by the signing of a joint agreement with the Indonesian Toll Road Authority (BPJT) for Public Works Ministry and PT Jakarta Tollroad Development (JTD). Later on, the toll roads will be equipped with a public transport lane.

Such signing was conducted by City Secretary Saefullah, Head of BPJT Ahamd Ghani Ghazali Akman, and Director of PT JTD Frans Sunito.

Vice Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama disclosed that the project is a phenomenon in the toll road sector, where its investment reached Rp 42 trillion. He also felt happy because of this mega project built soon.

He furthered the road ratio could be added, which is reaching six percent. Ideally, it must be 12 percent. Hence, one way to realize it is by adding road segments via six toll roads construction.

"I am very grateful because there is an agreement signature over construction of six toll roads in the city," admitted Basuki who participated in the signing of an agreement with the Ministry of Public Works, Friday (7/25).

On the other hand, Public Works Minister, Djoko Kirmanto stated the investment reaches Rp 42 trillion, and all set in the concession agreement (PPJT). The high fund of the project is caused by mostly the construction is dominated by elevated road on the existing road corridor.

Another uniqueness, he furthered, is special lane for public transport thus it cannot disrupt traffic flow on the toll road. Thus, the six toll roads will be integrated with other transportation modes.

The project belongs to PT JTD is divided into four phases and is planned to complete in 2022. First phase is Semanan-Sunter corridor as long as 20.23 kilometers with a total investment of Rp 9.76 trillion, and Sunter-Pulogebang corridor as long as 9.44 kilometers worth Rp 7.37 trillion.

Second phase is Duri Pulo-Kampung Melayu corridor as long as 12.65 kilometers with total investment Rp 5.96 trillion, and Kemayoran-Kampung Melayu corridor as long as 9.60 kilometers worth Rp 6.95 trillion.

Third phase is Ulujami-Tanah Abang corridor as long as 8.70 kilometers with total investment Rp 4.25 trillion. And the last phase is Pasar Minggu-Casablanca corridor as long as 9.15 kilometers with total investment Rp 5.71 trillion.

The total length of those six inner-city toll roads is 69.77 kilometers.
