120 Qurban Animals in Pondok Kelapa Examined

Weak cows are given electrolytes to increase stamina and those without appetite get vitamins

Ahead of Idul Adha 1439 Hijri, the officers of East Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Sub-dept. is examining 120 qurban animals, on Jalan Raya Pondok Kelapa, Duren Sawit, Wednesday (8/8).

Livestock and Animal Health Section Head at East Jakarta Fisheries, Agriculture and Food Security Sub-dept., Irma Budiany stated it is conducted to create a sense of safety and comfortable for locals who want to buy qurban animals.

Generally, the animal condition is good and healthy. There is only one cow that lacks appetite and one is weak because take a long journey from Bali and Madura.

"Weak cows are given electrolytes to increase stamina and those without appetite get vitamins. The cows here are all healthy and deserve to be sacrificed," she stressed.

There have been 10 officers in the location whereby three of them are veterinarians. They examined all cows imported from Madura and Bali. Examination includes animal health, age by checking on their teeth and horns.

His side also checked animal health letters from the area of origin. All of them have also been completed. Thus sacrificial-worthy stickers are installed on animals that have been declared healthy.

"Therefore, people should buy qurban animals in the locations that have a sticker. It is because the health of the animals has been examined, yet if there are no stickers, we do not guarantee," he stated.
