Hundreds of Street Vendors’ Stalls in South Jakarta Demolished

Hundreds of street vendors’ stalls in Kebayoran Lama Market, South Jakarta, were demolished by Satpol PP this early morning, Monday (7/28). Those stalls were demolished because all this time they were occupying public facilities like sidewalks and green belts. Before demolishing their stalls, those street vendors have been warned.

“We do this operation simultaneously in all South Jakarta areas, but we’re focusing in Kebayoran Lama Market and Pasar Minggu. There were street vendors’ stalls on sidewalks, while under flyover there were over 100 stalls. Not only violating (the rules), they also causing trashes piling in Kebayoran Lama,” uttered South Jakarta Mayor, Syamsuddin Noor.
As many as 375 South Jakarta Satpol PP were deployed to demolish the stalls which mostly have been left by their owners. All of the wood, boards, and street vendors’ wares were then transported to big trucks from South Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department and Satpol PP.
