Jakartans, Beware of Potholes in West Jakarta!

Citizens living in Srengseng Urban Village, Kembangan, West Jakarta, took the initiative to put flower pots around the potholes on Jalan Raya Kembangan and Jalan H Kelik. They admitted have reported this condition to West Jakarta Public Works Department, but until now there has been no repair.

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, potholes with a diameter of 40x50 cm has been in existence since two weeks on Jalan Raya Kembangan, precisely in Puri Kembangan's traffic light junction.

Lisda, (51), a citizen of RT 03/05, Kembangan Selatan Urban Village expressed such potholes are caused with electric poles revocation when the road being concreted.

"When Jalan Raya Kembangan was being concreted, the electric poles are still left standing. After concrete process is done, all electric poles are repealed. But it's not directly covered by the casting until leaving potholes. To avoid unwanted things, citizens decided to install the pot," she expressed, Tuesday (7/29).

Similar condition is also spotted on Jalan H Kelik, Srengseng Urban Village. Dozens of potholes with a diameter of 30x30 cm seen from corner of Jalan H Kelik until Permata Regensi Housing Complex. The worst condition is located in in the bend, precisely in front of CV Bangkit Mandiri. 

Kusnandarm, (42), a citizen of RT 01/06, Srengseng Urban Village, exclaimed the potholes have been in existence more than one year. Locals have repeatedly dredged it in a bid to prevent casualties, especially motorcyclists.

"The potholes are very dangerous and prone to accident," he expressed.

Another potholes also detected on Jalan Bangun Nusa, Cengkareng, precisely on Jalan Daan Mogot. The potholes have a length of 3 m and 1 m width.

Head of Kembangan Sub-District, Slamet Riyadi revealed that his party has received a report about potholes along Jalan Raya Kembangan. He has reported it to Road Public Works Sub-Department to immediately repair it, but there has been no further action.

"I've reported this matter twice, but there is no repair from related unit until now. To prevent casualty, I instruct local urban village heads to dredge the potholes with debris," he stated.

Meanwhile, beritajakarta.com has repeatedly contacted Head of Central Jakarta Road Public Works Sub-Department, Sisca Hermawati via cell phone, but there was no respond.
