Ketupat Operation Survey: Traffic Accident in Jakarta Still Quite High

The City Police Traffic Unit recorded that the amount of traffic accidents in Jakarta and its surrounding areas is still quite high. Through the Ketupat Jaya Operation program starting from July 22-29,  as many as 53 accident cases were recorded happen in the city. Of the dozens of cases, 6 people died, 21 people suffered severe injuries and 40 others suffered minor injuries.

Adj. Sr. Cmr. Hindarsono, Chief of City Police Traffic Law Enforcement Division, said the material loss is about Rp 106,450,000. On the other hand, police also did decisive acts in form of ticketing sanction (5,051 case) and reprimand sanction (5,076 cases) to the unruly motorists.

He added the offenders are dominated by two-wheeled vehicle. Most of them do not wear helmets and carry passengers beyond capacity.
