Hundreds Joint Personnel Clean Up KBT in Duren Sawit

It is done to make river becomes cleaner and also to maintain its beauty, especially ahead of rainy season

Hundreds joint personnel clean up East Flood Canal (KBT) in Duren Sawit Urban Village, Cakung, East Jakarta, Monday (10/1). It is done to celebrate World Habitat day and World Cities Day 2018.

East Jakarta Assistant in Economy and Development, Syofian Taher said, this cleaning is a very good activity to anticipate inundation ahead of rainy season. Thus his side encourages local residents to participate in this activity and take a part in maintaining river's cleanliness.

KBT's Mud Dredging Process Reaches 50 Percent

"I appreciate BBWSCC effort for its cooperation with various parties to clean up KBT. This can educate residents to continue maintaining environment cleanliness," he conveyed.

Ciliwung-Cisadane Flood Control Office (BBWSCC) Head, Bambang Hidayat mentioned, this cleaning is not only focused on KBT river flow, but also KBT river bank.

"It is done to make river becomes cleaner and also to maintain its beauty, especially ahead of rainy season," he added.

This cleaning activity involves around 300 joint personnel from East Jakarta SDA Sub-dept., Environment Dept.'s Water Body UPK, Kodam Jayam and BBWSCC. Cleaning starts from Sunter River floodgate which is connected to KBT and clean around 200 meters of KBT water flow.
