KBT's Mud Dredging Process Reaches 50 Percent

Mud dredging in East Flood Canal (KBT)'s sand trap location, Cakung Menteng, Cakung, East Jakarta has reached 50 percent. It is targeted to be finished by December.

East Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-dept. Head, Mustajab stated, mud in KBT's sand trap should be dredged to increase KBT's capacity and prevent sedimentation and siltation in KBT water channel.

"We just resumed mud dredging on KBT's sand trap today. Formerly, it was hampered for a month since we ran out of fuel and didn't have budget to buy it," he conveyed, Friday (9/21).

After its proposal has been approved through City Budget 2018 Amendment, his side immediately buys fuel thus his side can operate Jakarta SDA Dept.'s Alkal UPT's eight long arm amphibian excavators again.

"We use self-managed funds from City Budget to dredge mud in KBT's sand trap. We just buy its fuel and its operator is from Jakarta SDA Dept.'s Alkal UPT," he added.

For information, the dredged area has around 250x400 square meters wide and dredged mud volume reached 357 thousand cubic meters.

"Dredging process currently reaches about 50 percent. It is targeted to be dredged up to five meters deep," he stated.
