Thus, in upcoming raids, Jakarta Provincial Government is confirmed to be getting assistance from both institutions.
Kodam Jaya Commandant and City Police Chief called yesterday. They are clearly serious in helping us controlling Monas
Vice Jakarta Governor Basuki T Purnama disclosed that Kodam Jaya Commandant May. Gen. Mulyono and City Police Chief Insp. Gen. Dwi Priyatno have stated their institutions’ readiness in helping Jakarta Provincial Government controlling Monas area.
“Kodam Jaya Commandant and City Police Chief called yesterday. They are clearly serious in helping us controlling Monas,” said Basuki at City Hall, Tuesday (8/5).
Basuki to Arm Satpol PP Personnel in MonasRegarding the case in which one Satpol PP officer being secured by the police, Basuki told that is was only misunderstanding. Some TNI personnel from the garrison had met him and in that occasion Basuki complained about TNI irresponsible individuals who are backing up the street vendors in Monas.
“I met them yesterday. They did not intimidate, went okay. I told them that if there were TNI personnel backing up the street vendors, Satpol PP becomes afraid (to raid the street vendors). So they won’t be afraid, Satpol PP personnel will be armed, equipped with bullet-proof vests, and trained how to shoot correctly,” uttered Basuki.
In addition, he claims that Jakarta Provincial Government is also getting support from the Presidential Security Detail (Paspampres) considering Monas area is not fully the responsibility of city government alone.
“Monas belongs to all. There is Paspampres’ interest as well since the area is located in ring 1 and close to the State Palace,” explained Acting Head of Jakarta Gubernatorial Affairs and International Cooperation (KDH KLN) Bureau, Heru Budi Hartono.
According to Hartono, besides controlling the street vendors, Jakarta Provincial Government will also enforcing bylaws in Monas area. All this time, many violations happened there, from illegal parking until immoral acts.
“Everyone wants convenience in Monas,” he asserted.
