PDAM Jaya tested water quality in some reservoirs and rivers in Jakarta. This testing was done to know about water condition in rivers and reservoir in Jakarta based on its quality.
This testing is carried out to obtain an overview or update about raw water quality on surface water sources in several rivers and reservoirs in Jakarta
"This testing is carried out to obtain an overview or update about raw water quality on surface water sources in several rivers and reservoirs in Jakarta," said Priyatno Bambang Hernowo, PDAM Jaya President Director, Thursday (10/25).
He gave example about water testing which is conducted in 13 locations on September 2018. Some of those locations are, Curug Dam, Ciliwung (Pejaten) River, Setu Babakan, Krukut (Cilandak) River, Pesanggrahan River (DCR5), Pesanggrahan River (DCR 4), Cengkareng Drain, West Flood Canal-Intake Pejompongan and West Flood Canal-Urban Forest.
PD PAM Jaya Kicks Off Run for WaterIn this water testing, PDAM used 22 parameters consisted of 5 physical parameters from colors, turbidity, temperature, electrical conductivity (DHL), and Total Dissolve Solid (TDS). Then, it used 15 chemical parameters such as acidity (pH), total hardness, Chloride (Cl), Manganese (Mn), Iron (Fe), Nitrite (NO2-), Zinc (Zn), and free Ammonia (NH4).
"It is known that water in these 13 sampling locations are mostly contaminated by Bacteria Total Fecal Coliform and Coliform, COD and Organic Substances. This indicates pollution from domestic waste," he explained, Thursday (10/25).
He stated, the newest water quality testing result in September is tend to be better than the result in August 2018.
"In last September, there were 8 of 22 parameters tested which do not meet the requirements. While for August 2018, there we
re 11 parameters which do not meet the requirements," he conveyed.
