Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan obtains awards from Anugerah Parahita Ekapraya 2018 for Main category from the Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) Ministry.

Anugerah Parahita Ekapraya award is a form of acknowledgement for ministry/institutions and local government leaders for their commitment and roles in realizing gender equality and justice through gender mainstreaming strategies.

This award is submitted by Indonesian Vice President, Jusuf Kalla to Anies at Vice President's Palace, Jl. Medan Merdeka Selatan, Gambir, Central Jakarta.

"Alhamdulillah, this award will increase my motivation in making Jakarta Government and all apparatuses to have a commitment and ensure equality and same opportunities can be given to all women in Jakarta," he expressed, Wednesday (12/19).

He conveyed, Jakarta Government's programs and policies also give partiality to women.

"We conduct empowerment programs and self-developing training for women even to villages in Jakarta," he added.

He also appreciates Jakarta Government apparatuses who have worked wholeheartedly, especially in giving training to residents, including women.

"I only represent to receive this award. There are hundreds thousand of people who work in Jakarta Government. Insya Allah, we can maintain this achievement next year," he stated.

Jakarta Empowerment Children Protecting and Population Control (PPAPP) Dept. Head, Tuty Kusumawati stated, Anugerah Parahita Ekapraya award is also achieved by East Jakarta Mayor, North Jakarta Mayor, and West Jakarta Mayor.

"Surely we also hope next there will be more achievements that can be obtained," she conveyed.

According to her, gender mainstreaming is a cross-regional working unit (SKPD) issue in Jakarta Government. Thus it is very important to increase understanding of the importance of implementing gender mainstreaming throughout SKPD.

"This equality becomes governor's commitment. They have plan for this program and allocate the budget. We just need to implement it as good as possible," she said.

For information, there are four categories in Anugerah Parahita Ekapraya award. Those are Pratama Level (Beginner), Intermediate Level (Developer), Main Level (Foundation and Sustainability), and Mentor Level.

The award is given through assessment in seven key components, Commitment, Policy, Institution, Human Resources and Budget, Gender Analysis Tools, Gender Data, and Society Participation.
