Kampung Cerdas Program Intensified in West Jakarta

West Jakarta Environment (LH) Sub-dept. intensifies implementation of Kampung Cermat Memilah Sampah (Cerdas) Program. This program has a purpose to reduce waste volume that will be transported to Bantar Gebang Integrated Waste Treatment Area (TPST) in Bekasi, West Java.
We will continue to involve community's participation to run this program
West Jakarta LH Sub-dept. Head, Edi Mulyanto stated, Kampung Cerdas Program is the implementation of Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan's strategic program in environmental sector.
"We want to create Disaggregated Waste Processing Area (KPST) in West Jakarta by educating residents to sort waste from household level," he conveyed, Monday (1/7).
LH Dept.'s Flat Becomes a Pilot for Integrated Waste Sorting ProgramWaste sorting from household level becomes the main target for this program because waste producers are mostly came from residential areas.
"This year, we will build Kampung Cerdas pilot program in each RTs of 8 sub-districts," he mentioned.
He is optimistic that Kampung Cerdas Program can run well and give significant impact to reduce West Jakarta's waste that will be transported to Bantar Gebang TPST.
"Our target is to reduce it by 17 percent. We will continue to involve community's participation to run this program," he said.
Residents who are participating in this waste sorting program will get financial profit.
"There are waste that still can be used or sold via waste bank and central composting site," he added.
