To commemorate the MH Thamrin’s service, especially in the field of soccer sports, the Jakarta Provincial Government along with Betawi Association held the MH Thamrin’s 125th anniversary. The festival themed 'Jungkir Balik Demi Jakarta' was held at VIJ Field, Jalan Petojo VI, Cideng, Gambir, Central Jakarta, Saturday (2/16).
Prior to festival, a seminar themed 'From VIJ Stadium towards MH Thamrin Stadium: Thamrin Started, Anies Baswedan Realized' was slated to be held at Block G on the 22nd floor, Jakarta City Hall building on Friday (2/15) morning. It was attended by historian JJ Rizal, the author of 'Gue Persija', Abdillah Afiif, and Iwan Takwin as representatives of Jakarta BUMD, PT Jakpro.
Iwan explained the exposure to the progress of the BMW Park area development plan as the Persija headquarters which is targeted to hold a groundbreaking in the upcoming March.
"This is one of our supports and suggestion to give a name for Persija Stadium as Mohammad Husni Thamrin," expressed Betawi Kita Association Chairman, Roni Aldi in a press conference, Friday (2/15).
The festival itself will display photo exhibition about "History of VIJ until Persija, bazaar, gymnastics, Stand Up Comedy, and various Betawi art performances. It is slated to be held in the morning until afternoon and got support from Jakarta Provincial Government.
"We hold this event in the VIJ Stadium in Cideng," he said.
