Jokowi Wants City Becomes a Pilot for BBG Implementation

Jakarta Governor, Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo admitted he is supporting the implementation of the conversion of subsidized oil fuel (BBM) type premium becomes gas fuel (BBG). Through the policy, Jakarta Provincial Government wants to become a role model in its implementation.

Indeed, we want to be a role model, either for later gas coming into the household, bajaj, taxis, buses, official vehicles

"Indeed, we want to be a role model, either for later gas coming into the household, bajaj, taxis, buses, official vehicles," said Jokowi at City Hall, Monday (8/18).

Jokowi also wants the same thing can be conducted by all officials serving under Jakarta government. Thus it could be an example for other employees. Jokowi said, Jakarta would like to implement the gas conversion, even though it does not perfect. Hopefully, Jakarta will be the first city to implement the conversion from premium to gas fuel.

PGN: Jakarta Operational Cars Must Use Gas Fuel

Previously, Head of Jakarta Transportation Department, Muhammad Akbar stated that in 1998, Jakarta government had issued the conversion over fuel type premium becomes gas fuel. But the program had to be stopped due to unavailable gas-filling station (SPBG). "We had issued the policy before, but it stopped due to unavailable SPBG in Monas," he explained.

He uttered there has been no discussion with the state-owned gas distributor PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) regrding the use of gas fuel for official cars owned by Jakarta government. But if it was implemented, there should be the Governor Regulation. He furthered, his party along with the Industry and Energy Department will also contribute in distributing the converter kits if this policy is implemented.
